Liz Surrey-Saylor, owner, began her riding career as an adult. Her first show horse, Gay Bars Skip, took her through the novice level all the way to the finals at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, along with winning the Georgia Big A circuit championships in western horsemanship and trail. Prior to owning Surrey Stables, she owned and managed a horse club which introduced many people to the joys of riding. She is currently competing at AQHA shows with Conclusions Shadow in Showmanship, pleasure, horsemanship, trail, and her favorite new class, western riding.
Liz is currently the Secretary of the Plantation Acres Saddle Club.
Hilly Alenik, barn manager, hails from New York where she began her riding career at the age of 4 learning hunt seat and jumping. Later, she switched to western, and her favorite classes are trail, showmanship, and horsemanship. She has spent several years at the horse shows with her son, David, now a horse trainer in Ocala. Hilly is currently the President of the Plantation Acres Saddle Club.
Trainers and Instructors
Peggy Disner, instructor, has been a riding instructor since 1988 and an American Riding Instructors Association (ARIA)-certified instructor since 1997. Peggy's lessons include care, maintenance, and grooming to balanced seat riding in both the English and Western disciplines. She will teach you to listen, understand, and communicate with your horse.
Jennifer Cashman, Hunter/Jumper/Equitation Instructor, is an American Riding Instructors Association (ARIA)-certified instructor. Jennifer
teaches beginners through A circuit riders, starting at age 5. She offers a structured program specializing in proper equitation and complete horsemanship with a strong emphasis on safety.
